Radon Testing
Radon Testing for Central Illinois
Most of Illinois sits in EPA Radon Zone 1 — the highest-risk zone. Radon is the second-leading cause of lung cancer in the United States. Testing is the only way to know whether the home you're buying — or living in — has a problem.
How It Works
- We place a continuous radon monitor in the lowest livable area of the home.
- The monitor runs for 48 hours under "closed-house" conditions (windows shut, normal HVAC operation).
- We retrieve the device and email you a report with the average level in pCi/L.
What the Numbers Mean
- Below 2.0 pCi/L — low; no action required
- 2.0 – 3.9 pCi/L — moderate; consider mitigation
- 4.0 pCi/L or higher — EPA action level; mitigation strongly recommended
Pricing
- $125 when bundled with a home inspection
- $175 as a standalone service
Mitigation systems typically run $1,200–$2,500 installed and reduce levels dramatically. We don't sell mitigation — that keeps the test honest.
